Penelope Bourk Myth and Art Penelope Stuart Bourk is a writer, weaver, sculptor and teacher inspired by myth. Her training includes a B.Sc. in Natural Sciences from University of British Columbia in Canada , an MA in World Religions from Boston University , extensive doctoral studies in Mythology at Boston University and studies in comparative mysticism, Celtic language and myth at Harvard University . She has taught Greek and Roman Myth at Boston University , consulted to the Boston Zoo program Myths and Tails, led seminars on The Heroine’s Journey , and taught journaling and weaving/sculpture. Her writing has been published in Reiki Magazine International, Divining the Body, La Jolla Light, La Jolla Village News , and the San Diego Union -Tribune. Penelope has several literary works in process. She has also designed a workshop entitled Finding a Way Home, related to her sculpture series based on the Odyssey of Homer, using myth and art as map and compass.
Working in wood and fiber arts, and drawing on the mythological traditions of the Greeks, the Romans, the Celts, Jewish mysticism, Hohokam ritual space and her own experience, Penelope Bourk has created several series which invite projective interpretation. |
